Job Description

Job title: Maintenance Operative

Location: Liverpool/Birkenhead

Contract: Full time three-month fixed-term contract**

Direct reports: N/A

Reporting to: Facilities Manager



Role Overview


The Maintenance Operative will report to theFacilities Manager managing maintenance and repairs ensuring works are resolved effectively.



Key Responsibilities


  • Completing minor plumbing repairs such as fixing dripping taps or running toilet cisterns
  • Painting both full flats and minor touch ups including filling in damage
  • Minor works such as tightening cupboard doors fixing door handles
  • Installing household appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers
  • Installing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
  • Changing light bulbs
  • Fixing toilet seats
  • Site clearance
  • Furniture assembly and moving furniture
  • Fitting shelves hanging pictures and installing window locks
  • General building and grounds maintenance
  • Undertaking maintenance tasks as directed and prioritise tasks according to urgency
  • Ensuring standards and procedures are adhered to and work closely with Health & Safety
  • Assisting in the improvement of Health & Safety standards across all sites
  • Working collaboratively and engaging with other teams within the business
  • Supporting the delivery of continuous improvement action plans
  • Maintaining a safe and clean environment for all


Experience and Qualifications


  • Previous experience in a similar role with confidence carrying out general handyperson decorating and maintenance tasks
  • Good practical skills across a variety of repair and maintenance tasks
  • A genuine passion for delivering excellent customer service
  • Good communicationskills
  • Competent with IT
  • A full UK driving license*
  • Able to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work to deadlines and balance multiple priorities
  • A positive can-do attitude and a flexible approach to your working day
  • Awareness of health and safety for both yourself and others on site
  • A willingness to work flexibly including outside normal hours when needed to maintain
    service continuity.



*Please note that access to your own vehicle will be for this role. A fuel card will be provided for business fuel costs.

Additional Information


**This role will initially be appointed on a three-month fixed-term contract with a view to extending to permanent employment if successful.



The successful candidate must by the start of the employment have permission to work in the UK.


We require all candidates that have been offered employment with us to complete a background check that will include eligibility to work in UK employment referencing DBS check and depending on the role further checks may need to be conducted.
