This position is part of the Division of Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks. The Public Safety Technician 2 performs technical and semi-skilled level work in support of law enforcement and law enforcement activities in the Fairbanks area. This position supports the overall mission of the Alaska State Troopers and daily work assignments may vary greatly from day to day depending upon the needs of the department. Tasks assigned may vary from providing assistance during Search and Rescue missions to processing evidence moving vehicles or assisting with maintenance projects.

As a Public Safety Technician 2 in Fairbanks you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of environments both indoor and outdoor. You will be performing semi-skilled work mostly at the Trooper Post in Fairbanks tasks involving but not limited to: inventories evidence processing maintenance of property and equipment delivery of equipment to Trooper outposts. Delivering or prepositioning vehicles assisting with certain surveillance functions reviewing data supporting law enforcement training and certain administrative functions. This position exists to support law enforcement personnel and will include from time to time maintenance and janitorial tasking.To be successful in this position a candidate will need to possess the ability to:
Safely handle hazardous equipment such as firearms incinerators and hand tools.
Safely drive and operate state vehicles.
Safely lift and move heavy items.
Monitor the safety and security of property.
Assist detachment outposts with a variety of special projects as needed.
Remove snow from vehicles and walkways around the Trooper Post
Operate a standard desktop computer communicate via email Teams and operate Microsoft Outlook Word and Excel daily.
