Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is accepting applications for a Construction Project Manager position that is available with our Facilities Department.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Construction Project Manager is responsible for planning and supervising a wide range of construction projects from start to finish; organize and oversee construction procedures and ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree in project management business administration engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience as a construction project manager.
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures material and project management principles.
  • Ability to follow written and oral directions.
  • Possess basic computer skills; email spreadsheets word processing and internet searches.
  • Self starter who works independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to respond to situations in a timely manner.
  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring moderate physical strength on a continual basis.
  • Ability to cooperate with other staff members.
  • Comfortable working at heightsascending and descending ladders.
  • Must be dependable and punctual.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans schedules budgets and resource allocations for division-wide initiatives.
  • Coordinate with school leaders facilities teams contractors and external vendors to ensure smooth execution of projects.
  • Track and monitor project progress adjusting plans as needed to stay on schedule and within budget.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to facilities leadership on project status risks and key milestones.
  • Establish clear communication channels to keep stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the project life cycle.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks or delays escalating issues when necessary.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation including schedules cost reports and post-project evaluations.
  • Ensure all projects comply with district policies state regulations and applicable procurement requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Project Management Business Administration Engineering or related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent training.
  • 35 years of experience managing projects preferably in a public sector school system or facilities environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Salary: $47941.21 - $90458.53 annually with benefits; commensurate with experience and pro-rated to start date

FLSA: Non-Exempt
