Job description

The Production Operations Specialist will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for supporting production environments that provide cloud services to applications. The role focuses on application support and requires a wide range of technical skills. The incumbent will work closely with the development and infrastructure teams to:

  • Proactively monitor manage and improve the availability and performance of production environments (from the presentation layer to the infrastructure layers);
  • Proactively manage the capacity of applications in production;
  • Plan and implement production releases load testing and configuration changes;
  • Customize production tools (monitoring deployment planning etc.);
  • Contribute to medium and large-scale technical projects including participation in architecture reviews design upgrades and migrations to new platforms;
  • Make recommendations to management on performance capacity and design issues.

The specialist will also collaborate with other teams to respond to incidents and quickly resolve issues often under pressure in order to restore services critical to the business. The ability to be on call outside of normal business hours is therefore essential.

Given the nature of the position which focuses on production support and the use of cutting-edge technologies the ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong ability to learn and a keen interest in technological innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Administer cloud technologies such as Ansible Tower the API platform (Apigee) Marketplace Robotics etc.;
  • Design application solutions using cloud technologies;
  • Set up continuous integration and deployment pipelines (Jenkins Ansible);
  • Provide technical support to development and operations teams;
  • Write scripts for automation using Unix Terraform and Ansible;
  • Provide operational support for microservices and cloud technologies locally and internationally (Follow the Sun model);
  • Help secure the CIB environment and reduce technological obsolescence.

Requirements

  • Good knowledge of Googles Apigee product and APIs (REST XML/JSON SOAP etc.);
  • DevOps experience on Unix platforms with API Ansible and Terraform tools;
  • Proficiency in script development in Unix Python and Ansible;
  • Very good knowledge of the Linux environment;
  • Good general understanding of IT infrastructure firewalls and networking;
  • Experience managing Kubernetes and related container technologies;
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written (occasional interactions with customers);

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English as the position requires communicating with teams located outside Quebec.
