Description

The Mayo Clinic Florida Brain Tumor Stem Cell Research Laboratory led by Dr. Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow with expertise in immunology especially as applied to the field of brain tumor research.
This position offers the opportunity to lead independent cutting-edge projects investigating the molecular and cellular mechanisms driving brain tumor biology in both human-based and in vitro models with a particular focus on the tumor microenvironment and therapeutic responses. Supported by the Mayo Clinic Florida Neurosurgery BRIDGE Biobank the postdoctoral fellow will have access to a rich collection of patient-derived specimens to advance their research objectives.

The ideal candidate will be skilled in and have experience in:
Developing and executing advanced experimental approaches using patient-derived samples and preclinical models to investigate immunology radiation effects as it pertains to brain tumor biology.
Propelling translational research efforts to bridge laboratory findings with potential therapeutic applications for patients.
Independently leading grant writing and proposal development to support ongoing and future research initiatives.
Spearheading manuscript preparation for dissemination in high tier journals.
Providing mentorship to junior researchers while collaborating with scientists and clinicians across disciplines in a highly translational research setting.

Faculty profile:
Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Upon background check and CCATS Executive Committee approval Research Fellow may have patient/research subject contact directly relating to and incidental to the original research program. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars Research Scholars Professors Specialists and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.

During the selection process you may participate in an OnDemand (pre-recorded) interview that you can complete at your convenience. During the OnDemand interview a question will appear on your screen and you will have time to consider each question before responding. You will have the opportunity to re-record your answer to each question Mayo Clinic will only see the final recording. The complete interview will be reviewed by a Mayo Clinic staff member and you will be notified of next steps.



Qualifications


PhD or MD/PhD in cancer immunology molecular biology cancer biology or a related field; specialized expertise in radiation response in cancer is highly desirable but not required.
Prior experience in brain cancer research or related cancer biology strongly preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in histopathology immunostaining and advanced cellular/molecular techniques.
Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals.
Excellent communication and scientific writing skills.
Experience working in NIH-funded laboratories is highly desirable.
Due to organizational needs and hiring timelines this position is open to candidates who are already located in the United States. Eligible applicants include U.S. Citizens Permanent Residents and those able to transfer a J-1 visa from another U.S.-based institution to Mayo Clinic.
