Qualifications (education professional certifications or licenses experience proficiencies)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One to two years relevant experience preferred
- Proficiency in modern business communications including personal computers electronic mail voicemail facsimile and copier equipment
- Proficiency in basic filing principles
- Proficiency in English required; proficiency in a second language preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to Family Workers in providing services to clients including intake engagement assessment referral service plan development advocacy counseling exit summaries and follow-up.
- Assist in monitoring and documenting client progress toward service plan goals.
- Conduct home visits and other field work as required.
- Provide general clerical support including filing faxing typing photocopying and sorting mail.
- Answer telephones take messages and direct calls to the appropriate parties.
- Report to and meet with supervisor on a monthly basis.
- Complete program reports on a monthly basis or more frequently as required.
- Assist with special projects as assigned such as recruitment events or client activities.
- Enter client and program data into computer databases and other tracking systems
- Gather information needed for proposals reports and program management including inventories incident reports fire drills and supply list.
- Ensure that attendance and all other data is submitted in the DYCD and BronxWorks Database (when available) in a timely fashion.
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Skills/Abilities
- Excellent map reading skills and ability to navigate public transportation system
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use a walkie-talkie
- Strong grammar skills
- Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Ability to stand walk or sit for long periods of time
- Ability to climb five flights of stairs
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents
- Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation
- Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather including inclement weather
