They will use specific tests and proven methods to make sure the treatment is working. The role includes carrying out different treatments such as hands-on therapy guiding patients as they walk suggesting exercises using various devices and taking care of wounds.
The therapist will check how well patients are doing and make changes to their treatment plans based on their progress. They will also evaluate how effective the treatments are and refer patients to other services if needed.
They will provide advice and support to patients their families caregivers and others involved in the patients care. Good communication with supervisors and team members is important to discuss how patients are doing and any challenges they face.
A summary of the services provided will be created when a patient is discharged following all necessary rules. The therapist will write down all important details in the electronic system and keep patient records safe as per company policy.
They will also keep track of the time spent on treatments according to regulations. Participation in meetings such as discussions about patient care and reviews is part of the job. Ongoing training and participation in company events are also required.
The therapist will arrange for any necessary equipment or supplies following the rules and will supervise and assist physical therapist assistants rehabilitation aides or students.
They must follow the rules set by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and their state during their work as a physical therapist.
**Requirements:**
- At least 1 year of experience as a physical therapist Required
- Experience in long-term care or rehabilitation settings Required
- Must have a license to practice in Missouri Required
- Missouri allows licenses from the Compact Agreement.
