Job Summary

The physical therapist will carefully look at how a patient moves and does everyday activities. They will find out what problems the patient has and create a personalized treatment plan. This plan will focus on helping the patient feel less pain improve their movement and avoid losing their ability to move.

**Main Duties:**
- Evaluate patients by asking questions checking their health and doing specific tests to gather information.
- Create a personalized care plan that targets the specific problems found during the evaluation following doctors orders.
- Regularly check on the patients progress and how they respond to treatment.
- Start and manage the discharge plan from the very first visit and continue it throughout the treatment.
- Supervise and guide support staff and students according to state laws and department rules.
- Write clear and accurate notes about patient care within the time needed following department rules and insurance requirements.
- Communicate with patients families caregivers and other health care team members to ensure the best care using a method called AIDET (which stands for Acknowledge Introduce Duration Explanation and Thank You).
- Assess the learning needs of patients and their families and provide information to meet those needs.
- Take part in learning and growing professionally through educational programs like meetings workshops and reading up-to-date articles about physical therapy.
- Be involved in activities that improve the quality of care.
- Keep a safe environment for patients and staff by following safety rules.
- Work within the limits set by state laws for physical therapy.
- Do other related tasks as needed.

**Requirements:**
- 2 years of experience in physical therapy in a long-term care setting is required.
- A Texas state license or a compact license is required.

**State License Requirements:**
- Texas
- Compact License is allowed
