Your new role...

The Video Engineer is responsible for managing all aspects of the MMU video department in a professional LIVE sports production setting. He is overseeing the entire IP based and legacy video VR studio camera and replay equipment configuration operations and maintenance. The position requires long term experience in the field of (remote and traditional) live production of sports events. The Vision Engineer reports to the Technical Manager Production Operations. The position is based in the greater Munich area and the weekly working hours are usually 40 hours from Monday to Friday. For larger LIVE productions there are also regular assignments in the evenings on public holidays and on weekends as well as a moderate amount of coordinated on-call duty

Your Accountabilities...

  • Preparation configuration and maintenance of the entire IP based and legacy video infrastructure and systems in the MMU production control rooms (PCR) like cameras VR studio graphics playout and post-production facilities in liaison with Eurosport GSA production and the Technical Manager Production Operations.

  • Works for LIVE sports productions operationally as a Vision Engineer in the PCR.

  • Assists with further development of existing systems as well as the integration and configuration of new components.

  • Support of global optimization projects as subject matter expert in the video technology and operations field.

  • Fault find and coordination of the maintenance of all video broadcast and IP equipment in the local production facilities.

  • Provide ongoing training of the MMU freelance Video Engineers and Technicians

Qualifications & Experience

  • BSc/BA degree (TV Broadcast or Video Engineering) or comparable professional qualification paired with long-term working experience in the area broadcast production operations and play out of live sports events.

  • Experience and understanding of cloud broadcasting remote and traditional production and the associated processes for producing live sports events.

  • Proven experience of working as an Vision Engineer in a LIVE sports production.

  • Network and IP infrastructure knowledge including a good understanding of the latest IP/AV standards (e.g. 2110-10 NDI SRT SIP AES67 and Dante).

  • Demonstrable knowledge of current baseband and IP broadcast video equipment such as cameras vision mixers replay systems VR studio graphics machines and post-production.

  • Familiar with network control systems of production equipment and scheduling software.

  • Used to working under pressure in a fast-paced live TV production environment.

  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills ability to communicate clearly and to work independently.

  • Excellent German and English communication in spoken and written is a must.
