DESCRIPTION:The School Counselor will be responsible for providing the following supports to students in grades 4 & 5. The School Counselor must be adept at multi-tasking prioritizing tasks and collaborating in a fast-paced include: Provide group and individual counseling services and crisis intervention when needed Provide ongoing consultation counseling and crisis intervention to specialized building programming Providing classroom lessons as needed on various social emotional learning topics such as inclusiveness anti-bullying managing emotions etc. to promote positive mental health Provide conflict mediation to students as needed Design and deliver tiered supports and interventions and Universal supports for all students Case management for assigned caseload including communicating with families and outside providers Provide classroom-based triage supports and interventions to students Collaborate and consult with school personnel on topics related to social/emotional learning and mental health Collaborate and consult with personnel and the teams at sending elementary schools to plan for transitions Maintain contact with outside providers and agencies to facilitate comprehensive approaches to student services When applicable develop individual student goals and benchmarks collect and analyze data and prepare progress reports for IEPs Learn and implement Restorative Practices such as Collaborative Problem Solving Approach Chair the Instructional Support Team and process and chair the 504 process and meetings Completes special education paperwork including referrals and background data collection for TEAM meetings and attends/participates in initial and re-evaluation meetings. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Assume a Leadership role in implementing a Social/Emotional curriculum and PBIS Perform other related duties as required Work collaboratively with building and district administration Attend scheduled staff meetings and district clinical meetings as required Participate and maintain Safety Care certification Participate on the schools crisis team
