The Opportunity
STEM Clubs is an after-school program running from November 2025 to May 2026 in our core communities for youth in grades 6-8. The program is designed to strengthen participants STEM knowledge and skills build STEM social capital increase awareness of STEM pathways and foster social-emotional learning (SEL) through engaging workshops hands-on activities and experiential learning trips.
As a STEM Clubs Program Facilitator you will play a key role in creating safe inclusive and engaging learning experiences for children and youth. Working in schools and community settings you will facilitate:
- STEM skill-building workshops and activities
- Hands-on experiments and experiential learning trips
- Leadership development workshops activities and enrichment trips
- Co-facilitation of classroom-based STEM modules with educators across the GTA
We are seeking individuals who are confident working with low-income and racialized communities bring strong facilitation and relationship-building skills and are passionate about supporting youth. The ideal candidate is adaptable to diverse learning needs eager to contribute to participants growth and committed to fostering inclusive learning spaces. You will work closely with Site Leads and Program Coordinators as part of a collaborative team.

Contract Type/Term: Part-time Fixed-Term
Positions Available: 10
Schedule & Hours: Up to 7 hours per week at one of the following program sites. Please note - team members are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from program sites:
- Weekly on Wednesdays 2:00 PM 6:00 PM at Tecumseh Sr. Public School (720 Scarborough Golf Club Rd Scarborough ON)
- Weekly on Thursdays 2:00 PM 6:00 PM at Greenholme Sr. Public School (10 Jamestown Cres Etobicoke ON)
Mandatory In-Person Training Dates at 71 Regent Park Blvd. Toronto ON:
- Saturday October 18 2025
- Saturday October 25 2025
Additional Hours:
- Occasional hours for preparation team meetings and training sessions.
- In addition to regular program responsibilities team members may occasionally be called upon to support one-off events in-school engagement activities or other special assignments as needed.
- Some activities may take place in person at the Visions of Science office (71 Regent Park Blvd Toronto ON).

Major Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
Program Delivery & Facilitation
- Facilitate hands-on STEM activities workshops and enrichment trips using lesson plans and materials provided
- Deliver STEM Clubs sessions in alignment with program goals and timelines
- Set up maintain and take down program spaces ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for youth
- Co-facilitate classroom-based STEM workshops alongside educators as part of the Educator Engagement program
Participant Engagement & Support
- Build rapport and maintain positive relationships with youth participants
- Encourage active participation and support social-emotional learning during all activities
- Provide mentorship to participants by modeling teamwork leadership and responsible decision-making
- Supervise participants to ensure their safety and well-being at all times
Program Administration & Evaluation
- Assist with attendance tracking survey distribution and completion of feedback forms
- Share participant observations and session highlights with Site Leads and Program Coordinators
- Contribute to program evaluations by helping collect and transcribe feedback and survey data
Team & Organizational Support
- Support occasional one-off events in-school engagement activities or other special assignments as needed.
- Participate in program debrief sessions with the program team
- Support bin packing and unpacking to prepare and organize program materials
- Support site set-up and tear-down to ensure smooth and safe program delivery
- Collaborate with other facilitators Site Leads and staff to ensure effective coordination across sites
- Represent Visions of Science positively and professionally in interactions with participants families educators and partners
What Were Looking For
Education & Training
- Interest in current study of or completion of a field related to STEM education child and youth care or social work is preferred
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience facilitating or leading programs for children and youth preferably in low-income and/or racialized communities
- Experience delivering workshops tutoring or hands-on group activities
- Ability to adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse learners (asset not required)
- Proven ability to create safe inclusive and engaging learning environments
- Strong group management and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster participation and resolve conflicts constructively
Key Competencies & Skills
- Confident facilitation and youth engagement skills; able to lead interactive STEM activities
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with youth families and educators
- Dependability accountability and consistency in program delivery and completion of tasks
- Adaptability and flexibility to respond to the changing needs of participants and schedules
- Commitment to fostering inclusive welcoming and empowering spaces for children and youth from equity-deserving communities
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word Excel and Google Drive (training available if needed)
Additional Asset(s)
- Lived experience in low-income and racialized communities
- Valid G license and access to a vehicle
- Experience in the non-profit sector and/or knowledge of systemic issues impacting our communities
