The Tactical Applications team based in Cedar Rapids Iowa has a new opportunity for an individual who wants to grow their technical expertise on complex programs and be a part of an innovative and fast-paced avionics business area. Teams are composed of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-10 people) focused on the design and development of software application products. Our team focuses on creating avionics solutions for both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft including the integration of various radios and surveillance equipment for domestic and international military customers.

We are looking for a Systems engineer to join our TCMA team in Cedar Rapids Iowa. The successful candidate will be responsible for design development integration and verification of military avionics solutions. Candidates will engage in development of advanced architecture and algorithms to exploit and enhance the situational awareness and navigation capabilities of Military Helicopter pilots and crews. You will be part of a team that supports the US ARMYs 160th Special Operations Air Regiment customer US Marines Coast Guard and similar rotary wing programs.

Our team implements command and control software for complex mission sensors like Aircraft Survivability infrared camera sensors as well as weapons systems (Hellfire Cannons Rockets) embedded in helicopter cockpits. The day-to-day job experience will cover a variety of tasks including: Software integration regression test formal test execution and documentation for software test in areas such as: software problem reports change requests software components and software test scripts. Perform in a cross-functional agile team to complete integration verification and validation. The candidate will perform these assignments in close coordination with other system and software engineers on the team using Collins Aerospace engineering processes.

What You Will Do:

• Assist in leading Systems engineering development tasks within the Agile framework
• Present technical information and status to the Agile team and immediate levels of engineering leadership
• Work with other team members and domains to maintain and develop requirements and design to satisfy customer needs
• Continually work to maintain compliance with Agile team as well as Collins Aerospace standards and best practices
• Develop automated and semi-automated software test scripts via Python language
• Provide support for verifying software builds in an integrated test environment
• Support formal verification events during major deliveries
• Continually developing and improving practices and processes related to test development
• Willingness to travel (domestically <10%).

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
• Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance after day one.
• Agile team development experience
• Test Automation (Python) experience
• Engineering Tool experience (DOORS ALM JIRA Enterprise Architect etc.)

The salary range for this role is 66000 USD - 130000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
