Job Description
CREST Collaborative located in Andover MA is seeking an Orientation & Mobility Specialist. CREST provides services to students ages Pk - 22 in a substantially separate educational environment as well as within school districts in the greater Merrimack Valley area. Join a growing Vision department that is dedicated to supporting and advocating for individuals with low vision. General Job DutiesEvaluation of the visually impaired for safety and mobility in the school or community settingTeach use of low vision aides including pre-cane white cane and sighted guide techniquesWork with teachers to assure follow through of techniques for the individual student within the classroomTeach individuals to maximize the use of their vision and their ability to interpret other senses to make decisions in safety and mobilityAwareness and training in the use of community resources i.e. banks Post Office Travel the social aspects of travel including asking or declining assistanceTeach the visually impaired walking with safety efficiency and independenceAssists with student restraint as consultation and training to staff and regular education students to increase their awareness of visually impaired Provide techniques to assist in their safety and schedule. Salary Range: $54987-$116598 based on education and years of experience.
