Job Description

OPEN UNTIL FILLED AFTER 5 DAY REQUIRED POSTING

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the career and technical education subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual emotional physical and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society and to develop in each student an understanding of the skills necessary for a specific occupation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:

Bachelors degree associates degree or high school diploma/GED and equivalent full-time wage-earning experience required for certification

Valid Trade and Industrial Education teaching certificate with required license endorsements and training for subject and level assigned OR
Eligible for a District Teaching Permit with related training and work experience OR

Valid Health Science teaching certificate with required licensure/certification for subject area assigned

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of career and technical education subject assigned

General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

Lesson planning skills

Lesson presentation skills

Conflict resolution skills

Classroom management skills

Proficient in the effective use of tools and technology used in the occupational field
Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills

Technology skills related to classroom presentation and record keeping

Strong knowledge of Internet and web-related technology

Ability to instruct students using a variety of technology applications and platforms

Ability to support students with computer set-up navigation and technology issues

Work Conditions

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; equipment required to demonstrate and perform tasks related to the assigned career and technical education subject area

Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking

Lifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs; may lift and move textbooks classroom equipment and other tools and equipment in the classroom

Environment: May work inside and outside; on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; around machinery with moving parts; may be exposed to chemical hazards or biohazards; regular exposure to noise

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; ability to respond to needs in a timely manner in a high-stress environment; work prolonged or irregular hours

Regular Attendance is an essential function

Minimum Experience:

Hold a current Registered Dental Assistant or Dental Hygiene licensure/certification

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Program Responsibilities

  1. Comply with federal state and local regulations related to the occupational area assigned.
  2. Develop outlets for internships and apprenticeships.
  3. Develop and maintain a network of advisors to help keep the curriculum fresh and relevant and to stay current in industry trends.
  4. Take an active role in the recruitment of new students in the program.

Instructional Strategies

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans for in-person and virtual learning that fulfill the requirements of the districts curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
  2. Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency board policies and administrative regulations.
  3. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  4. Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals objectives and methods according to district requirements.
  5. Employ the use of technology in the teaching/learning process.

Student Growth and Development

  1. Assist students in analyzing and improving methods and habits of study.
  2. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal methods.
  3. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
  4. Present a positive role model for students; support the mission of the school district.
  5. Create an in-person and virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of students.

Classroom Management and Organization

  1. Establish effective classroom management and administer discipline in accordance with board policies administrative regulations and campus management plans.
  2. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook.
  3. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
  4. Assist in the selection of instructional materials supplies and equipment.
  5. Compile and maintain all reports records and other documents related to local state and federal requirements.

Communication

  1. Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents students colleagues community members and industry and higher education partners.
  2. Be available by phone email or video conferencing to confer with district personnel students and/or parents.
  3. Communicate with students or parents on a regular basis via phone or video conference email or district-approved website.
  4. Maintain a positive and professional relationship with all colleagues students parents and community members through effective communication both verbally and in writing.
  5. Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

Professional Growth and Development

  1. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  2. Comply with state district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  3. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  4. Keep informed of and comply with state district and school regulations.
  5. Compile maintain and file all reports records and other documents required.

Other

  1. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  2. Perform such other tasks and accept such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
  3. Comply with state district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers including the Texas Educator Code of Ethics.
