Job Summary

Overview

The Oncology Data Support Specialist provides support for the Oncology Informatics team ensuring tasks and activities are completed efficiently accurately and timely. Working under direct supervision the Oncology Data Support Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless daily operation of data management processes providing timely and precise support to oncology professionals at all levels.

Responsibilities

Assist in the review and validation of the monthly case finding merge to ensure accuracy and completeness of oncology data.
Assist in the review and verification of monthly case finding pathology reports to support accurate identification and documentation of oncology cases.
Assist in the ongoing creation of suspense reports and the distribution of cases to abstractors for timely data abstractions.
Assist in the preparation and submission of monthly Rapid Case Ascertainment (RCA) reports to ensure timely and accurate reporting of oncology cases.
Under direct supervision extract diverse medical data from the Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) and accurately code it in compliance with established data standards and organizational guidelines.
Provide support for oncology case-related activities as needed to ensure accurate and timely data processing.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred: NCRA Accredited Associate Degree Program

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: NCRA approved Health Information Management certificate-emphasis in Cancer Registry or equivalent.
