Job Summary

Job Overview

The Occupational Therapist develops and implements a program maintenance of optimum independence in disabled students whose adaptive skills and/or effective functioning in the environment have been impaired.

Roles and Responsibilities

The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.

  • Performs functions in the areas of general development self-help or self-care needs for individual and environmental adaptations functional mobility motor skills and musculoskeletal system sensory motor and integrative skills and pre-vocational and vocational skills
  • Functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team whose purpose is to provide an appropriate educational program for students with disabilities.
  • Keeps essential records/date necessary for efficient operation.
  • Maintains a close liaison with medical doctors and available for consultation with school personnel and parents.

Education

Masters Degree in in Occupational Therapy

Experience

NA

Licenses and Certifications

  • Holds or is eligible for an Occupational Therapist license through the Virginia Department of Health Professions

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Has the ability to cooperatively plan implement and evaluate comprehensive education programs for students

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly talking expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. The employee must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately loudly or quickly. The employee must possess normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn recall and apply certain practices and policies. Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects.

Months/Days/Hours: 10 months/ 197 days/ 2.8 hours per day
