Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.

Job Description

PROGRAM OPERATION: Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes. Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements. Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook. Submit requested information within established timelines.

STUDENTS: Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions or provide assistance. Deal with student concerns and if necessary consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.

INSTRUCTION: Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Canvas PowerPoint etc. as event of emergency absence notifies program/department chair. Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people styles and views. Promote same as an integral part of ones work.

This position is for the instruction of utility pole climbing. This includes stepped poles cross connection box poles and 28 foot extension ladder handling. Must be able to climb to 40 feet and demonstrate proper three points of contact climbing and use of the Bucksqueeze. Instruction will be in outside utility pole yard in various weather conditions. Previous utility pole climbing experience is necessary. Previous instructor/facilitation/teaching experience preferred. This position requires no travel.

Current or recent employee of a utility company or utility contractor. Possesses a Department of Labor Bureau for Apprenticeship Training recognized journeymans card and in journeyman status for two years or more.
And possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught Current Lineman Journeyman card. Knowledge of safety regulations and OSHA.

Must be able to climb a wood pole to 40 feet and demonstrate proper three points of contact climbing.

Previous utility pole climbing experience is necessary.

Instructing work applications and climbing skills related to: safety good communication proper use of gear maneuvering on and around poles and pole top rescue.

Position requires sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability and ethnic backgrounds of the College students and employees.
Fully supports the Colleges mission and strategic plan initiatives.
Selected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks including criminal history check and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome.

Train the Trainer experience. Excellent communication skills (verbal nonverbal and written). Problem solving skills (identification analysis and resolution). Demonstrated ability to work with a team of instructors and a diverse student population.

Associate degree in Linework or related field.

Official college transcripts required upon hiring and employment contingent on acceptable criminal background checks.
