Hexagons Mining division addresses surface and underground mining challenges with proven technologies for planning operations and safety. We are seeking a passionate Embedded Software Engineer to join our team developing next-generation safety solutions such as the Vehicle Intervention System (VIS) and Collision Avoidance System (CAS). You will deliver high-quality embedded software for intelligent mining systems and perception platforms working in an agile environment with a strong focus on innovation quality and impact on customer safety and efficiency.

Senior Embedded Software Engineer (f/m/d)

This appeals to you

• Design develop and maintain embedded software for our smart devices including SmartAntenna Display5 SmartSwitch and other safety components
• Collaborate closely with product managers architects and perception engineers to ensure alignment with business goals and customer needs
• Participate in architecture discussions low-level design (LLD) and refinement processes to ensure robust and scalable solutions
• Investigate and resolve critical issues across firmware and hardware integration layers including GNSS validation logging protocols and debug port handling
• Support release management and participate in sprint planning standups reviews and retrospectives as part of our agile development cycle
• Maintain high standards of code quality through peer reviews unit testing test automation and continuous integration practicess

This is you

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering or related field
• 8 years of experience in embedded software development
• Experience with embedded operating systems
• Proficiency in C/C
• Knowledge of communication protocols (SPI I2C CAN RS232) and microcontroller platforms (ARM Cortex-M STM32 etc.)
• Experience in embedded Linux development (Yocto OpenWRT)
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like Git JIRA and CI/CD pipelines
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate effectively across disciplines
• Passion for building high-quality products with measurable impact
• Committed to clean code and best software development practices
• Willingness to travel occasionally for customer mine visits or test deployments

Desired:

• Experience with FreeRTOS or NuttX
• Expert knowledge in GNSS and positioning systems
