Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague serves as the chief investment officer for the states investment and debt portfolios and the office oversees all daily cash flows of state monies and serves as custodian of certain funds and investments outside of the state treasury. Additionally the Treasurers office is home to a variety of programs aimed at supporting Ohios families communities and job creators.

Ohio Treasurers Office Women in Finance Summer Internship
The Ohio Treasurers office is pleased to offer a full-time summer internship. The Summer 2026 Internship is focused on highlighting the opportunities and advantages of pursuing a career in public finance through women who are thriving in the industry.
Opportunities
- Exposure to financial operations of the 7th largest state in the country including Ohios $10 billion municipal bond portfolio
- Shadow day-to-day tasks of public finance professionals
- Network with women who have established careers in public finance
- Explore personal interests through public finance lens
Goals
- Develop knowledge of the public finance industry
- Expand and deepen skill sets including financial market concepts relationship building and professional writing
- Author and present an insightful research memo on a topic related to assigned department
(May qualify for course credit.)
Commitment
- 10-12 weeks approximately 40 hours per week (exact hours and dates will be negotiated with the intern)
- In-person at the Ohio Treasurers office located on the 9th floor of the Rhodes State Office Tower

- Position is compensated based on class status (junior senior etc.)

Requirements
- Interest in the public finance sector and desire to learn about governments financial functions
- Undergraduate or graduate student majoring in finance business economics accounting or related field
- Understanding of basic financial concepts including time value of money liquidity and capital markets
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office including Excel and Power Point
- Ability to communicate professionally
The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position.
