DescriptionJOB SUMMARY
The Item Control Specialist is part of the Merchandising Operations team and is responsible for maintaining item master data accuracy managing purchase order exceptions and ensuring smooth communication with suppliers regarding PO changes. This role serves as a key partner to merchants supply chain and store operations by ensuring data integrity across systems enabling timely product launches and reducing errors that impact the customer experience. The position reports to the Central PO Operations Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintain accurate and complete item master data including setup corrections mass uploads and hierarchy changes
Ensure alignment of product attributes (SKU UPC descriptions vendor data cost retail pack size) across merchandising and operational systems
Support purchase order processing including release and correction of exceptions
Execute manual receipt of Direct-to-Store POs and correct exceptions to manifest as needed
Maintain reporting on item setup status PO exceptions and error trends; recommend process improvements
Assist with new hire Security Access Request (SAR) on boarding and training process for merchandising areas
Maintain and update training guides as necessary
Ability to learn and adapt to new technology including JDA MMS Syndigo PIM and other internal tools and processes
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience preferred
2 years of merchandising or related experience is preferred
Self-starter with strong sense of urgency and accountability
Proficiency with MS Office products especially Excel and Word
Builds and maintains strong working relationships with peers and cross-functional teams
Demonstrates strong listening written and oral communication skills
Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities
Is detail oriented and executes tasks with a high level of accuracy
Demonstrates analytical and problem-solving skills
Able to multi-task organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
Learn new processes and systems quickly
