Position: Financial Analyst - Corporate Finance and Control

Employment Type: Permanent

Compensation Details:

• Acct. & Financial Analysis 15: Salaries range from $ 63894 to $ 85194 annuallybased on qualifications and experiences plus a performance-based incentive.
• Acct. & Financial Analysis 16: Salaries range from $ 72840 to $ 97121 annuallybased on qualifications and experiences plus a performance-based incentive.
• Acct. & Financial Analysis 17: Salaries range from $83037 to $ 110717 annuallybased on qualifications and experiences plus a performance-based incentive.

Location:

• Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)

• This role can be performed from EDCs headquarters in Ottawa.
• Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

Team Overview:

Corporate Finance and Control is a collaborative group that provides financial planning complex financial analysis reporting under IFRS taxation compliance and business reporting for EDC. Our group is hiring new members to help us meet the needs of our internal customers and is looking for innovative people interested in changing the status quo for the betterment of this growing and evolving organization.

As the newest addition to our team the successful candidate will have the opportunity to combine their solid accounting skills with a big picture understanding of business results and the related drivers in order to provide value-added and timely insights to our customers. This includes accessing and combining information from multiple information systems to analyze financial results developing and improving internal and external reports and implementing continuous improvements.

We are currently seeking an individual for the following discipline:

Tax accounting

Tax advisory and accounting guidance

What you will be doing:

Prepares domestic and international tax filings and returns within deadlines maintains tax documentation and responds to tax inquiries.

Researches and analyzes domestic and international tax laws regulations and treaties collaborating with external tax consultants on complex issues. Synthesizes findings into clear concise reports and presentations for management highlighting key insights risks and recommendations to support decision-making.

Implements process automation using a variety of tools to streamline work and create efficiencies.

Performs general accounting activities and maintains accounting and financial records and reports including journal entries account reconciliations financial statements regulatory and management reports.

Prepares analyzes and reports accounting transactions ensuring the integrity of accounting records for completeness accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles.

Establishes and maintains accounting policies and controls fiscal controls and safeguards the organizations assets.

Identifies opportunities to make enhancements to data to improve use and understandability.

Participates in various system implementation or enhancement projects including consulting recommending and implementing reporting requirements.

Ensures compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards government regulations and organization policies by researching and interpreting new accounting standards and consistently applying relevant guidelines.

Provides advice on internal control issues and recommends and implements reporting enhancements.

Provides financial analysis and modeling to support decision making and prepares data and input for forecasting and corporate planning purposes.

What we are looking for:

• Undergraduate degree in business administration accounting finance commerce or other relevant discipline.
• Professional accounting designation such as CPA or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in business tax accounting and/or financial analysis.
• Advanced knowledge of IFRS accounting and financial analysis principles and practices.

Excellent MS Excel Power Query Power BI Word and PowerPoint capabilities and strong ability to work with complex databases.

What will make you stand out:

Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)

Experience with tax accounting

Experience with Cognos Disclosure Management PeopleSoft Financials and IBM Planning Analytics
