Job Description

Overview:


Valid Ohio drivers license and proof of auto insurance is required by hospital policy. Must pass a motor vehicle background inspection insurance eligibility driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Childrens Hospital and must maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.

This attorney will staff the Franklin County Family Advocacy Clinic advising and representing Franklin County residents in domestic violence and Civil Protectoin Order matters in court. The attorney will primarly be located at the Domestic Violence Unit of the Columbus City Attorneys office at the Franklin County courthouse. There is opportunity for this attorney to also provide brief advice and counsel to NCH patients and their families in a wide array of civil legal issues.

Provides guidance and counseling to clients family and staff on how to best navigate the social and legal issues faced by clients and their families.


Job Description:


Essential Functions:

  • Interviews and provides guidance to clients and their families and assists clients and staff with relevant referrals and agency applications.
  • Consults with staff regarding environmental social and legal issues and assists with problem solving on those issues.
  • Provides direct legal representation of clients as requested.
  • Acts as liaison between the clients and referral agencies.
  • Develops relationships with relevant community resources in order to support clients and assist in navigating community systems.
  • Maintains appropriate records and participates in data collection relevant to and duties including conflict of interest rules for Ohio attorneys.
  • Provides input into policies procedures and processes. Participates in committees and meetings attends required training and maintains current knowledge of relevant procedures.


Education Requirement:

Juris Doctorate required.


Licensure Requirement:

Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio required.

  • Ability to collaborate across a multidisciplinary system.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to manage confidential information in a complex hospital environment.


Experience:

  • Five years of experience as an attorney required.
  • Three years of experience in the area of domestic violence and family law preferred.
