The Plain Local School District is seeking top candidates for
the position of GlenOak High School Head Swimming Coach.
GlenOak is a Division I school and a member of the Federal
League that includes Jackson Hoover Lake Perry Canton McKinley
and Green High Schools. GlenOak has enjoyed great success
in its 20 team sports including five state championships and
three state runner-up trophies.
Plain Local is an innovative district serving a diverse population
of 6000 students and takes pride in its focus of delivering a
personalized and relevant education to all students. Plain Local
students score above the state and similar district averages on
state achievement tests and GlenOak High School has been awarded
national recognition in US News and World Report. The district
curriculum includes 16 Advanced Placement courses honors courses
career and technical courses and opportunities for College Credit Plus
and is the leader in Stark County in offering dual credit courses
to all high school students.
The district moved into the new GlenOak High School in August 2006.
The 380000 square foot building serves as the anchor facility
on a 114-acre community campus. The campus also includes a state
of the art athletic facility with a 5000 seat stadium with artificial turf.
This new and comprehensive high school is designed to accommodate
2300 students in grades 9 12. The campus also includes partnership
with the Stark County District Library Stark State Mercy Medical
Center and Stark the spring of 2011 a new township park
opened on the South end of the property and will serve as a community
park to the residents of Plain Township.
Preferred candidates will have experience as a strong committed
teacher and successful head coach or assistant for at least three years.
The candidate must model the highest standards of character and
demonstrate the skill and desire to guide players to be conscientious
students and successful participants in multiple areas.

Experienced as a successful head coach or assistant
Demonstrated student-centered attitude and behavior
Models high standards of character
Exhibited leadership in areas other than swimming
Active participant in school and community activities
Demonstrated success with support groups or booster clubs
Recognized for positive and effective demeanor
Established strong positive rapport with students
and student-athletes
Proven capacity for building loyalty among the team
and coaching staff
Established strong loyalty and support with Athletic Director
and administration
Recognized positive relationship with other coaches
advisors and directors
Experience in building and advising a developmental
youth program
Responsibilities:
Develop character and sportsmanship in student-athletes
Encourage and guide players to be conscientious
students and successful participants in multiple areas
Evaluate assistant coaches in cooperation with the Athletic
Director and Principals
Monitor and safeguard the physical well being of all participants
Demonstrate positive and competent leadership in the school
at practice in games and in the community
Implement and support the conduct and eligibility rules of the
athletic program school and the OHSAA
Prepare the student-athlete to meet academic and scholarship
expectations
Propose and implement a budget for operations within guidelines
of the athletic program and school district
Develop summer swimming program for Plain Local students entering
middle school and high school
Participate in all Booster Club meetings taking an active role with direction
and vision of entire program
Attend coaching clinics to improve knowledge and provide student athlete
with latest research and training experiences
