Looking for an experienced Scientist to join our ADC Characterization team within the Protein Solutions and Bioanalytical department. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of life-changing antibody-based cancer therapeutics. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on expert in LC-MS and protein analysis with a passion for scientific problem-solving and a drive to innovate. Youll lead method development for the analysis of intact antibodies antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and other bioconjugates while also maintaining and enhancing our mass spectrometry infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop optimize and implement LC-MS methods for intact protein and ADC characterization
  • Perform in-depth peptide mapping to characterize proteins and bioconjugates
  • Develop fit-for-purpose assays to quantify and characterize proteins in complex biological matrices (e.g. rodent plasma)
  • Maintain and troubleshoot shared LC-MS instruments (Waters Thermo Sciex)
  • Train and support scientists on instrument use method application and best practices
  • Provide consultative scientific and technical guidance to non-MS users
  • Analyze and interpret complex MS data; prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations
  • Stay current with scientific literature and apply innovative technologies and methodologies
  • Work cross-functionally with Conjugation Chemistry and Antibody Design teams
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and automation of mass spec workflows

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. (or equivalent experience) in Analytical Chemistry Biochemistry Bioanalytical Chemistry Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related field
  • 4 years of hands-on experience in mass spectrometry for large molecule/protein characterization (industry or academic)
  • Proven expertise in operating and maintaining QTOF and Orbitrap-based mass spectrometers
  • Deep understanding of protein and antibody structure conjugation chemistry and post-translational modifications
  • Experience with peptide mapping and intact mass analysis
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent documentation practices and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with:
    1. Waters Xevo G2S QTOF
    2. Thermo Q Exactive
    3. Sciex X500B or ZenoTOF 7600
  • Knowledge of Protein Metrics software for data analysis and high-throughput reporting
  • Experience with affinity purification and SEC-MALS techniques
  • Expertise in identifying post-translational modifications (PTMs) or enzymatic modifications
  • Experience with Hydrogen/Deuterium Exchange (HDX-MS) or protein conformational analysis
  • Familiarity with automation in LC-MS workflows
