Job Description
We are hiring a Laboratory and Research Tech (Specimen Receiver) for one of our clients in Newark NJ.
Job Description:
- Performs specimen receiving accessioning and processing from submitting agencies (LEDT/PM) including proficiency testing providers following the laboratorys SOP.
- Processes specimens in a timely and error free fashion within one day of receipt.
- Identifies and rejects LEDT specimens that fail acceptance criteria.
- Collects and prepares samples to be sent out to reference laboratories for analysis.
- Prepares specimen aliquots and required paperwork in a timely and error free fashion within one day of receiving an assignment.
- Maintains specimen storage area. Maintains the storage area in an organized fashion.
Under supervision identifies and discards old specimens at least twice per year.
- Uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and observes proper laboratory safety policy.
- Maintains inventory of supplies. Ensures that routinely used supplies are properly stocked.
- Orders supplies as needed to maintain adequate stock.
- Maintains specimen receiving laboratory cleanliness. Ensures that all work areas are kept clean.
- Disinfects work area on a daily basis.
- Performs other duties as needed. Assists supervisor and laboratory management with other duties.
Education required:
- High School.
Work hours:
- 08:30am 04:00pm
- Lunch: 30 mins (unpaid)
