Job description:
The Controller will serve as a vital part of Total Comfort Groups leadership team overseeing the accounting department. The Controller is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate financial record-keeping and reporting and ensuring compliance with National and company policies. The Controller is also responsible for designing and implementing internal controls to protect the companys interests.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze monthly operational results against forecast/budget for all divisions.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls related to all financial operations and reporting.
- Manage operations in the accounting department including billing accounts receivable accounts payable and general ledger.
- Review and assist in the preparation of month and year-end financial statements for both external and internal processes.
- Ensure the accurate and timely completion of all month end processes.
- Prepare and co-ordinate the preparation of financial management reports as required.
- Participate in the budgeting function.
- Research various sales tax issues and integrating with the sales tax preparation software.
- Responsible for the compliance and execution of various financial controls and procedures within the business including ensuring acceptable procedures and policies are in place within the business.
- Mentor and develop finance and accounting staff fostering a culture of accountability collaboration and continuous learning.
- Monitor and manage remote employees.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience with a minimum of 3 years as a manager/controller.
- Proven experience managing a general ledger of a company and running a month-end close process from start to finish.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with process design.
- Experience with systems implementation/integration.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate accounting and financial information into common language.
Work Environment:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Required to stand walk and sit. May be required to stoop kneel bend crouch and lift up to 25 pounds. May require travel.
