The Director of Technology will maintain and leverage a high-level view across the organization and cultivate collaborative teams to transform the educational and operational technology landscape in alignment with the organizations vision values regulatory obligations and measurable outcomes. The Director will build on TRSUs mission of equity access and opportunity by being a creative dynamic and responsive leader charged with developing and implementing a strategic vision in all areas of technology that will support TRSUs and its school districts instructional and operational goals.
Job RequirementsLEADERSHIP & VISIONFacilitate the process of priority setting and decision making for meaningful and effective uses of technology in support of the organizations strategic goals.Work with key system leaders people networks and/or learning communities and departments to identify steps needed to meet strategic goals and influence and inspire others.Align technology team activities with the school organization goals.Provide leadership in strategic alignment of technology with all organization systems (e.g. instruction assessment finance facilities transportation security food service).Facilitate equitable access to technology resources for all stakeholders.
INSTRUCTIONAL INNOVATION & SUPPORT
Plan for and coordinate ongoing and purposeful professional development and training so that end-users are truly empowered and may fully leverage the districts technology and systems.Plan for and coordinate with the TRSU Curriculum Director for ongoing and purposeful professional development for educators in designated content areas including using educational research to improve student learning outcomes.Coach mentor and empower K-12 educators in designated content areas to learn collaborate and perform at their highest potential within the context of horizontally and vertically aligned curriculum. Identify and promote how technology can support educational best practices through communication and collaboration with the organization instructional leadership.Promote the application of technology to address the diverse needs of students and maximize student learning.
MANAGING TECHNOLOGY & SUPPORT RESOURCES
Oversee all administrative aspects of technology programs and services in the district including infrastructure implementation and maintenance support of educators and support staff in the use of hardware and equipment and management.Effectively allocate and manage resources and related budgets to support TRSU strategic priorities and initiatives.Oversee the delegated responsibility of designing developing analyzing and enhancing school district based programs and applications and oversee the delegated responsibility of isolating researching and resolving complex problems or issues for critical district applications.
SUPERVISION
Coach mentor and empower teams to learn and perform at their highest potential while embracing diversity in thinking. Set clear objectives and measures. Monitor process progress and results.Evaluate the performance of technology department employees and oversee training and support to enhance contributions.Provide shared leadership opportunities in the purchase and acquisition of new technology and equipment. Consults with appropriate stakeholders to coordinate evaluate and recommend and purchase new technology and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and professional expectations satisfactorily in addition to the following:Advanced Degree in Educational Technology or a related field preferred. Bachelors Degree or higher in computer science or a related field plus 5 years of educational experience and 5 years of networking experience in a multi operating system environment or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
Previous experience as a classroom teacher required and a current Classroom Teaching Endorsement preferred Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) certification preferred or certification attainable within one year of hire.Experience with a range of software hardware and operations systems.Proven record of accomplishment in technology planning and technology personnel management ideally in a K-12 academic setting.Experience preparing and managing large budgets.Proven track record of integrating technology into a classroom setting.Proven track record of effective project management.Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management public groups and/or boards of directors.Broad knowledge of industry standards and best practices in the use of technology in schools.Professionally represent the schools and the District in interactions with parents community staff and students and resolve conflict in a professional manner.Comply with applicable District state local and federal laws rules and regulations.Demonstrate commitment to responsible environmental protection and sustainable energy-saving practices.Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works closely with the Director of Curriculum and the Business Manager. Reports to and is evaluated by the Superintendent.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage supervise assign/direct and/or oversee the work of Network Administrator(s) site-based Technology Coordinators and IT Assistants Administrative Assistant and Contracted Service Providers. Interview and hire staff; coordinate the training and onboarding of new employees; oversee plan and issue daily work assignments; monitor work in progress and check completed work; ensure proper OSHA procedures are followed; handle employee complaints grievances and performance issues; evaluate job performance with the support/input of the other TRSU Administrators.Required Experience:
