The Senior Manager of Customs Customer Support for DHL Express Americas leads the DHL Express Americas customs support function to ensure regulatory compliance strengthen customer satisfaction and position DHLs customs services as a market differentiator. This role partners with Operations Commerical IT and regulatory stakeholders to assess regulatory changes develop compliant solutions and deliver value to customers across the region.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Customer Solutions & Satisfaction:
Act as a primary point of contact for COG Sales and internal teams regarding customs-related customer inquiries and opportunities.
Design and deliver regional customer solutions and tools that meet compliance requirements while enhancing DHLs service value.
Promote and monitor customer data quality to support compliant and efficient customs operations.
Regulatory Compliance & Trade Knowledge:
- Interpret and communicate regulatory requirements and changes to internal stakeholders and customers.
- Collaborate with regulatory compliance and legal teams to access laws and regulations ensuring DHLs practices remain compliant and competitive.
Provide subject matter expertise in audits disputes and determinations to mitigate risk and protect DHLs interest.
Cross-Functional & Regional Collaborations
- Coordinate with global and regional counterparts to align on customs customer support strategies and best practices.
- Partner with Operations IT and Commercial teams to embed customs requirements into broader business solutions.
Support communication campaigns to inform customers and internal stakeholders of regulatory developments.
Leadership & Capability Development:
- Provide leadership through training SOP development and guidance on customs requirements and DHLs capabilities.
- Represent DHL in industry and regulatory forums strengthening DHLs position as a trusted leader in customs solutions.
- Build influence and alignment across diverse stakeholders ensuring consistent and compliant execution.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Customs/Trade Law International Business Supply Chain or related field required; advanced degree or active Customs Brokers license preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in customs technical areas trade legislation or customs compliance within a multinational environment.
- 510 years of experience in logistics express or related transportation industries.
- Extensive experience with customs audits disputes and determinations including defending or supporting regulatory reviews.
Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement with regulatory bodies trade associations and senior-level industry forums.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of customs laws trade regulations and compliance frameworks across the Americas.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply evolving regulatory requirements into operational and customer solutions.
- Experience designing and implementing customs compliance programs SOPs and training.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint) for analysis reporting and presentation.
Working knowledge of customs clearance systems trade compliance platforms and data quality processes preferred.

- Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex regulatory landscapes and translate into actionable solutions.
- Strong influencing negotiation and consensus-building skills across diverse stakeholders.
- Effective communicator with excellent written verbal and presentation abilities in English and Spanish.

Advanced degree in International Trade Law or Supply Chain Management.
Active Customs Brokers license or equivalent regional certification.
Experience with global customs frameworks and multi-country compliance leadership.
Proficiency in a third language (e.g. Portuguese or French) for broader regional communication.
