Your Role:

At Vital Farms were on a mission to bring ethical food to the table and were looking for a passionate detail-loving regulation-respecting rock star to join our Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Team. As our Regulatory Affairs and Technical Services Senior Manager youll play a key role in ensuring our food is not only delicious and high-quality but fully compliant with all relevant regulationsfrom FDA and USDA to CDFA organic standards shell egg laws and third-party certifications. What Youll Do:

As the Regulatory Affairs & Technical Services Manager youll be the go-to expert for all things compliancefrom food labeling and product claims to third-party certifications and regulatory change management. Heres how youll make an impact:

Regulatory Strategy & Technical Guidance

  • Stay ahead of federal and state regulatory changes (FDA USDA CDFA etc.) and translate them into actionable guidance for internal teams.
  • Serve as the technical expert for regulatory inquiries and food safety compliance across the business.
  • Lead regulatory impact assessments identifying risks and opportunities tied to innovation and growth.
  • Advise on regulatory requirements during product development reformulations and market expansions.
  • Represent Vital Farms in industry groups regulatory meetings and discussions with certifying bodies.
  • Deliver internal training and guidance on evolving regulations compliance best practices and certification requirements.

Product Claims Labels & Certifications

  • Own the packaging label review processincluding claims nutrition facts ingredient statements allergens and third-party certifications (e.g. Certified Humane Organic).
  • Ensure all product claims are substantiated compliant and aligned with brand standards.
  • Partner with internal teams to develop labeling and compliance strategies that support innovation and transparency.

Certifications Supplier & Program Compliance

  • Oversee compliance for third-party certifications and ensure accurate documentation renewals and ongoing program support.
  • Support FSMA initiatives and ensure Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) compliance for imported products and ingredients.
  • Collaborate with FSQA and Procurement teams to uphold high standards for co-manufacturers and suppliers.

Documentation Specifications & Change Management

  • Manage master product specifications including creation updates and version control across all product lines.
  • Lead FSQA documentation processes related to UPC GS1 and labeling systems.
  • Drive change management for regulatory and FSQA updates across teams and partners.
  • Maintain document control systems to ensure accessibility accuracy and audit readiness.
  • Support state permitting and licensing needs across all operational markets.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelors degree in Food Science Biology Microbiology or a related field
  • 8 years of hands-on experience in regulatory affairs technical services or food compliance within a food manufacturing environment
  • Advanced certifications or training in regulatory compliance preferred
  • Deep knowledge of food regulations including FDA USDA CDFA FSMA FSVP and relevant state requirements. Experience with shell egg regulations and dairy a plus
  • Ability to travel up to 30% to suppliers co-manufacturers industry events internal meeting and eventsbecause sometimes the best collaboration (and compliance!) happens face-to-face
  • A strong grasp of labeling complianceyou know your way around nutrition facts panels ingredient statements allergen declarations and product claims
  • Expertise in managing third-party certifications such as Certified Humane Organic and others
  • Experience with document control systems specification databases and navigating change management in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with GS1 Global Data Synchronization and managing supplier documentation requirements
  • An eagle eye for detail and a genuine passion for regulatory accuracy and food integrity

At Vital Farms compensation decisions are dependent upon a variety of factors which may include but are not limited to skill levelexperience education training market demands and business needs.A reasonable estimate of the current starting annual base salary for this position is $125000 - $140000. Please keep in mind that hiring at the maximum end of the range would not be typical in order to allow for potential continued future salary growth.
