Job Summary
Occupational Therapist- Full-Time
Location: Kelso WA 98626
Responsibilities:
- Organize and conduct an identification program for occupational therapy services.
- Consult with parents staff and administration regarding student needs.
- Select and employ appropriate diagnostic procedures and develop guidelines for a comprehensive program.
- Prepare IEP goals and objectives and maintain progress data.
- Understand and comply with current legislation on children with disabilities.
- Complete all required reports and records in a timely and accurate manner.
- Provide supervision to certified occupational therapy assistants and District motor team assistants.
- Provide occupational therapy services in the classroom and individual settings.
- Consult with school staff on appropriate practices for students with disabilities.
- Function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and as a member of a team providing motor services to students with disabilities.
- Follow Code of Ethics and maintain a high standard of professional behavior.
Qualifications:
- Possession or eligibility for Washington State E.S.A. Occupational Therapist Certificate.
- State licensure as an occupational therapist.
- Experience in identifying students with exceptional needs.
- Ability to maintain individual case records according to law.
- Ability to work directly with Special Education personnel parents and school staff when developing individual educational programs.
- Ability to conduct appropriate testing diagnosis and evaluation activities of students with disabilities.
- Knowledge of child development.
- Awareness and appreciation of diversity among individual students.
- Successful therapy experience in an educational setting is preferred.
- Willingness to participate in professional development activities to upgrade professional skills.
- Ability to direct supervise and evaluate students.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel between buildings.
- Knowledge of state and federal legislation for disabilities (WAC 392-172A IDEA 04 Section 504 etc).
