Basic Job Functions:
The 1st Helper is the shift Lead position on the EAF and has responsibilities in all aspects of the melting process including: leading the team to ensure safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the furnace operating the furnace coordinating the melting process organizing shop activities and assisting the Shift Supervisor. The qualified candidate must be willing to work rotating shifts holidays and weekends as required.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience working in a Melt Shop
- Strong knowledge of EAF operations
- Must possess sound EAF technical skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong Mechanical Skills
- Strong understanding of computers and capable of learning new systems
