This is a part-time position located at theState Museum in New Orleans LA.
This posting will be used to fill two positions.
This position will serve on a custodial crew performing routine manual tasks to maintain the cleanliness sanitary conditions and appearance of the Louisiana State Museum building and complexes.
The Louisiana State Museums collections and educational programs stimulate awareness and appreciation of our states rich and diverse history and culture.
Minimum Qualifications
Six months of experience in custodial housekeeping groundskeeping or food service work.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
The incumbent of this position needs to have the ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends; physical stamina to lift move and arrange tables and chairs safely; experience with custodial or janitorial work especially in event of hospitality settings; attention to detail for cleaning and restocking restrooms and event areas; basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures; and good communication skills for coordinating with event staff.
Job duties include:
- Performs tasks such as sweeping mopping vacuuming scrubbing polishing dusting cleaning glass pane windows and using the proper cleaners and cleaning tools designed for each specific purpose.
- Cleans and waxes floors using industrial sized mopes for cleaning and applying waxes and using specialized industrial equipment such as strippers buffing and polishing machines.
- Is able to read event and function forms and aids with the setting up and breaking down of chairs furniture and audio equipment required for special events banquets and meetings. Aids with the cleaning prior to during and after all special events banquets and meetings.
- Assists with the cutting of grass trims shrubs waters plants and performs other duties on the grounds when assigned. Have knowledge to operate lawn equipment such as riding lawn mowers push mowers weed eaters and blowers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This position will be filled as a part-time Classified WAE limited to 1245 working hours in a 12 month period. **Starting Hourly Pay varies depending on experience.**
Work Schedule: The State Museums are open to the public at various hours on Tuesday-Saturday. This position may be required to work weekends evenings and/or holidays.
