As a Tax AdministratorIntern you will contribute to the overall success of a Scotiatrust Taxation Services unit in Canada. You will ensure specific individual goals plans and initiatives are executed in support of the teams business strategies and objectives and that all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations internal policies and procedures.

Is this role right for you In this role you will:

  • Prepare income tax returns by proactively gathering and analyzing all relevant supporting documentation such as income statements transactions tax slips capital gains & losses statements fees deductions and relevant credits.

  • Discuss tax rules and tax elections with the Tax Officer Associate Tax Officer and/or Manager Taxation and assess client tax situations perform detailed analysis undertake research and provide and suggestion around specific course of action in less complex situation.

  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships systems and knowledge.

  • Understand how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-today activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas while ensuring thorough knowledge of and strict adherence to the Banks Global Sales Practices ensuring the adequacy adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk regulatory compliance risk AML/ATF risk and conduct risk including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills and requirements that will enable you to succeed in this role Wed love to work with you if:

  • You are currently enrolled in post-secondary education.

  • You have strong computer skills including knowledge of tax preparation programs and Microsoft applications (especially PowerPoint Excel and Word) Salesforce and the Broadridge Trust System.

  • You are detail oriented.

  • You have a customer service focus.

  • You have strong organizational skills.

  • You take initiative can work well with minimal direction and can multi-task.

  • You have strong writing skills.
