Job Description
- Responsible for engineering administration and operational support of IBM MQ on mainframe platforms in a large complex Sysplex environment
- Provide 24x7 support for MQ infrastructure including on-call and after-hours maintenance
- Support application developers with MQ integration in batch and CICS environments
- Interface and collaborate with distributed MQ engineering and operations teams
- Define configure and maintain MQ resources (channels queues etc.)
- Perform MQ software upgrades maintenance and problem determination including coordination with IBM Support
- Monitor and tune MQ performance; generate performance and capacity planning reports
- Participate in disaster recovery planning testing and execution
- Support in-house developed mainframe MQ tools and enhancements (wrappers CICS triggers channel exits)
- Utilize monitoring and analysis tools such as Sysview for MQ and CA-Neumics Analyzer
- Leverage knowledge of z/OS core functions (APF Link list LPA VSAM)
- May develop internal automation tools using JCL REXX etc.
- Apply understanding of high availability and MQ data sharing concepts
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- (Desired) Leverage knowledge of CICS TS SMP/E RACF/CA-Top Secret Cobol Java Kafka and MQ Confluent Connectors
- (Desired) Provide support for application development teams and security integration as related to MQ
