Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and client-focused Accounts Receivable / Collections Clerk to join our Accounting team. This is a key role in managing accounts receivable and collections with both accuracy and professionalism. If youre someone who thrives on building strong relationships balancing attention to detail and making a direct impact on the success of the firm this position is for you. The successful candidate will work in-office one day per week and collaborate closely with clients lawyers and staff to ensure timely payments while maintaining positive client relationships.

What youll do:

  • Contact clients by phone email or in person to discuss account status and arrange payments.

  • Monitor overdue accounts maintain follow-ups and prepare files for collections.

  • Respond to client inquiries set up payment plans and process payments.

  • Track postdated cheques and manage related follow-ups.

  • Generate monthly AR reports process write-offs and issue refunds when needed.

  • Process credit card payments for General and Trust accounts.

  • Assist lawyers and staff with billing inquiries and trust transfers.

  • Send demand letters assess accounts and liaise with collection agencies.

What were looking for:

  • Experience in accounts receivable and/or collections.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive client interactions.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in processing financial information.

  • Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Office.

  • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment is an asset.
