Metallus Internship Program

Internship Assignment: Full Time Summer 2026

  • Work with an experienced process control engineer to implement industrial automation at one of our three Canton Steel facilities
  • Utilize PLCs (Programable Logic Controllers) Servers Robotics and an assortment of other computer hardware to improve and automate the making of steel
  • Develop HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces) to improve end-user experience and overall process efficiency
  • Interact with programming tools such as: Ladder Logic Visual Studio C# SQL and more
  • Gain exposure to or assist on projects such as: installation of new robotic equipment modernization of our PLC infrastructure and other activities that improve factory safety steel quality production rates data collection and the reliability of our equipment

Internship Qualifications:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Must have completed 30 or more credit hours by the end of the spring 2026 semester
  • Must be a full-time student attending an accredited two-year or four-year college/university
  • Preferred majors: Computer Science Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering or related
