The Assistive Technologist is responsible for providing specialized technical support and consultation related to assistive technology for individuals with disabilities professionals and community partners. This position plays a key role in helping consumers families schools employers and agencies identify and access technology solutions that promote independence accessibility and inclusion.
Key responsibilities include demonstrating assistive technology devices coordinating and managing the device loan program conducting individual and group assessments and delivering training to consumers and professionals. The role also involves facilitating train-the-trainer sessions offering consultative services and providing technical assistance to a wide range of stakeholders. Services may be provided on both a complimentary and fee-based basis depending on program requirements.
This position is based in Wilmington (New Hanover County) and provides direct service delivery across Wilmington and surrounding counties. The Assistive Technologist collaborates closely with North Carolina Assistive Technology Program (NCATP) staff statewide as well as Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities (EIPD) counselors and Wilmington office staff to provide comprehensive assistive technology services across 12 eastern counties.

Broad knowledge of assistive technology including devices services and resources that support individuals with disabilities and/or medical limitations.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects effectively.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders including individuals programs and agencies.
Ability to troubleshoot problems develop and implement effective planning strategies and provide technical assistance across a variety of settings.
Ability to work independently and adapt to different environments while maintaining a high level of professionalism and service quality.
