SUMMARY: Collects sorts processes and loads recyclables and assists the public with the proper disposal and recycling of various materials including collection of Household Hazardous Waste. May serve as supervisor of recycling operations in the absence of the Recycling Supervisor.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The job description is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Collects sorts processes and loads recyclable materials; prepares and loads processed recyclable commodities for shipment.
- Assists the public with unloading disposal and recycling of electronic waste batteries materials for document destruction and aluminum cans for redemption.
- Clears litter and debris from Recycling Center grounds building and Community Recycling sites; identifies and reports building maintenance and repair needs.
- Operates various types of machinery including but not limited to pick-up truck and trailer forklift skid steer and baler.
- Participates in Household Hazardous Waste Collection facility.
- Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 3 years of work experience with demonstrated mechanical ability operating light machinery
Required Licenses and Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Wyoming/Idaho Drivers License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Forklift Operator Certification.
- CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Certification.
- Certified respirator fit test annually.
- Medical evaluation annually.
Required Knowledge of:
- Recycling center operations; recyclable commodities for sorting and processing.
- Principles and practices of light equipment operation and maintenance.
- Safety rules and regulations occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Recyclable commodity sorting and processing.
- Recycling Center operations.
- Principles and practices of vehicle operation.
Required Skills in:
- Operating light and heavy equipment.
- Household Hazardous Waste collection and processing.
- Truck driving and heavy machinery operations.
- Providing quality customer service.
- Handling cash and processing various payment types.
- Applying basic mathematic principles.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Work is performed throughout the Recycling Center (outdoors and indoors); requires constant physical effort and possible exposure to extreme cold heat noise fumes dust vibration confined workspace chemicals and biological mechanical and electrical hazards.
