QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Registered Nurse and one year comprehensive nursing experience.
Preferred:
Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency
Knowledge Of:
First Aid age-appropriate CPR and nursing practices and procedures.
Various health-screening practices procedures and techniques.
Oral and written communication skills.
Record-keeping techniques.
Policies and objectives of assigned program and activities.
Interpersonal skills using tact patience and courtesy.
Health and safety regulations.
Contagious diseases.
Child development related to the ages represented in each grade level.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
Protect and promote student health facilitate optimal development and advance academic success. Must be able to provide care coordination advocate for quality student centered care and provide delegation training and supervision of unlicensed assistant staff and coordinate their training and development.
Essential Functions Duties and Responsibilities:
Administer first aid or nursing care for accidents and injuries.
Manage chronic and acute health conditions of students and staff.
Supervise and delegate to unlicensed assistant staff when appropriate.
Refer students to appropriate personnel resources or clinics and follow-up as necessary.
Maintain health records and medical logs.
Update immunization and student health records as needed.
Prepare and submit medical reports for appropriate organizations or District personnel.
Assure compliance with established laws and regulations.
Administer and retain medication and perform medical treatment in accordance with physicians instructions within District guidelines.
Conduct training for students teachers and other school staff as required.
Provide information and make recommendations to principals substitutes teachers unlicensed assistant staff and parents regarding health issues of students and school health program needs.
Develop programs to meet school health needs.
Maintain stock of first aid supplies.
Assure medical equipment is in proper working condition.
Order supplies and equipment as needed.
Maintain current knowledge of medical advances and information public health issues and treatment procedures.

ENVIRONMENT
Work Environment:
Indoor environmentally controlled. Typical office environment including but not limited to telephones personal interruptions background noises. The person in this position will be exposed to various illnesses injuries and bodily fluids. This position requires appropriate use of PPE. May require working with or near the public parents and children and will be subject to sounds scents and other related environmental factors.

Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of classified personnel. The evaluation will be conducted by the District Health Coordinator.
