  • Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe Reliable Usable Maintainable and delivered on time.

  • LCE consists of multiple specialty disciplines that influence the design and architecture of Raytheon products.

  • Our LCE resources interface directly with program leadership technical leadership and our customers throughout the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation.

  • Our engineers provide subject matter expertise in the following engineering disciplines:Reliability Availability Maintainability Testability System Safety Human Factors and Supportability.

  • This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Principal System Safety Engineerto join us onsite in a closed area with the LCE teamin McKinney TX.


What You Will Do

  • As aPrincipal System Safety Engineer your responsibilities will include:

  • An analysis of engineering hardware mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics assessing fault tolerance latent hazards and safety requirements compliance.

  • Work with system test and tactical operation and maintenance procedures to ensure the proper administrative system safety controls are in place.

  • Work across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.

  • Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds

  • Performing System Safety Program or Design analyses

  • Working with a large system safety program or multiple mid-sized safety programs including:

  • Monitoring a technical execution program

  • Interfacing with stakeholders (e.g. customers program offices subcontractors vendors)

  • Preparing Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval

  • Briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process

  • Interpreting system requirements customer specifications and military standards

  • Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program

  • Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically Requires:Bachelors degree in Science Technology Engineering or Math (STEM) and minimum 8 years of relevant Systems Engineering or Safety Engineering experience.

  • Experience with: System Safety Engineering Systems Engineering Software or Firmware Engineering Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering.

  • Experience Performing System Safety Program and Design analyses

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with DoD System Safety Programs e.g. MIL-STD-882

  • Experience with DO-178 software verification

  • Experience with system and software safety implementation in Agile Development environment

  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development Masters Degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
