Position Title: Project Coordinator Supported by: Director of Strategic Partnerships and Programs FLSA Status: Exempt-Full Time Our Story: Food Bank for the Heartland has connected our communities with food resources and hope since 1981. The fight against hunger is our ongoing collaborative effort. We work with individuals organizations food manufacturers and distributors grocery stores the USDA and Feeding America to procure food and purchase food to supplement donations. Through the collective power of our leadership employees partners volunteers and donors we can reach more communities serve more people and address food insecurity more directly and effectively. In Short: The Project Coordinator for the Community Impact Network Relations team is the connector and catalyst that ensures partnerships and programs run seamlessly. This role bridges agencies internal teams and community stakeholders turning vision into action and ideas into outcomes.
With a focus on coordination communication and continuous improvement the Project Coordinator supports the systems processes and relationships that allow our Network Relations team to thrive. This position ensures that agency partners have the tools resources and communication they need to expand access to nutritious food and strengthen community impact.
Your Mission: Champion Coordination & Alignment
- Support the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Programs in coordinating agency relations projects and initiatives.
- Track timelines deliverables and follow-ups to ensure priorities are being addressed with clarity and accountability.
- Serve as the communication hub for progress dates for partners CSRs and leadership.
Elevate Agency Relations & Partnership Support - Assist with partner agency onboarding communication and support.
- Train and coach CSRs on agency projects processes and systems so they can confidently support partners and carry out tasks as needed.
- For projects coordinate site visit schedules training sessions CSR learning opportunities and agency events ensuring smooth logistics and meaningful outcomes
- Gather and share resources tools and best practices that strengthen agency capacity CSR effectiveness and community connections.
Communicate Impact & Inspire Action - Create and maintain project documentation dashboards and reports that highlight impact and progress with special projects.
- Support the development of compelling stories presentations and updates that showcase the power of partnerships.
- Act as a connector between internal departments and external agencies to align goals and foster shared success.
Foster Innovation & Impact - Recommend and implement improvements to processes that enhance efficiency and agency experience.
- Contribute to the design and rollout of new initiatives that expand access to food and resources.
- Gather feedback and insights from agency partners to help shape strategies training and program growth.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with experience in high-level stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools; comfortable learning new systems and technology.
- Detail-oriented solutions-driven and proactive in problem-solving.

Your Story:
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration Communications Nonprofit Management or related field.
- 2 years of experience in project coordination agency relations or community-focused work.
- Nonprofit food banking or community partnership experience is a strong plus.
- Lived experience with the impacts of systemic racism or marginalization is valued.
- A combination of relevant education certification and extensive professional experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
