Overview

Hampton Lumber is seeking a Journey Level Millwright to join our Allendale sawmill team. This role is responsible for maintaining troubleshooting and repairing sawmill machinery to ensure safe and efficient operations. Millwrights are considered the machine center owners accountable for planning and performing repairs ordering parts problem-solving and tracking efficiency at their assigned machine centers.

The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams including maintenance production and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Safety compliance: Follow all company safety policies procedures and industry regulations to protect yourself and your team.
  • Equipment maintenance: Install maintain troubleshoot and repair sawmill systems machinery and facilities to ensure smooth operation.
  • Equipment operation: Safely operate machinery as needed for troubleshooting testing or verification of repairs.
  • Production support: Assist production personnel in maintaining product flow and minimizing downtime by responding quickly to issues.
  • Planning and prioritization: Organize and schedule repairs preventive maintenance and improvement projects to balance immediate needs with long-term reliability.
  • Welding and fabrication: Perform welding cutting and fabrication tasks to repair or improve equipment.
  • Collaboration: Partner with maintenance production and management teams to solve problems and identify efficiency improvements.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate work orders repair logs and preventive maintenance records to support reliability and compliance.
  • Work environment: Promote and maintain a clean safe and orderly work area for yourself and others.
  • Continuous improvement projects: Lead or support efforts to improve safety productivity and equipment reliability throughout the mill.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years industrial millwright experience or equivalent training/apprenticeship.
  • Proficiency in welding cutting hydraulics pneumatics and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints schematics and manuals.
  • Skilled in use of maintenance tools cranes hoists forklifts and related equipment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • OSHA 10 or 30-Hour Card (General Industry or Construction):
  • Forklift and Aerial Lift Certifications: required for operation (can be obtained upon hire).
  • First Aid/CPR Certification: required (can be obtained upon hire).
