Westwood Professional Services Inc.is seekinga Project Designer to join our Architecture team in our New River Valley VA office. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.

• Consults with clients to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure or renovation and prepares information regarding design specifications materials color equipment estimated costs and construction time
• Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget
• Plans layout of project and integrating engineering elements into unified design for client review and approval
• Prepares scale drawings and contract documents for building contractors
• Represents client in obtaining bids and awarding construction contract
• Administers construction contracts and conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans
• Prepares studies and reports
• Prepares project designs and plans using computer assisted design software and equipment
• Directs activities of workers engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents
• Resolves client problems and complaints and provides technical advice to project staff
• Performs final quality assurance/buildability review of project documents
• Signs and seals project documents prepared under his supervision
• Understands and obeys site safety requirements for construction sites

• Knowledge of the art and science of designing buildings and structures styles of design and methods of construction of buildings and other physical structures
• Read analyze and interpret written communication specifications and drawings
• Write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals
• Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the public
• Read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals or government regulations
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Revit and other discipline specific software
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products

• Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university is required
• Ability to obtain Architectural license in applicable state(s)
• Must complete training and testing for licensure within established time frame
