Job Description

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria Virginia and Orlando Florida USA with technical support centers in South East Asia and East Africa that provide program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning design infrastructure management technical consulting engineering and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army Air Force Navy Marine Corps) missions along with other US federal agencies all over the world.

We are looking for a Licensed/Certified Elevator Inspector with expertise in vertical transportation inspection to ensure code compliance and oversee safety testing for elevator systems in U.S. diplomatic facilities worldwide. This role requires global travel coordination with local elevator companies and a strong understanding of host nation safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct vertical transportation inspections and testing with local resources.
  • Travel globally for periodic elevator safety inspections and testing per OBO-EM directives and safety codes.
  • Witness elevator safety tests to ensure compliance with codes manufacturer specifications and OBO-EM directives.
  • Perform final acceptance inspections for new and modernized elevators.
  • Provide detailed reports on inspection results code deficiencies and recommendations.
  • Assist Facility Managers (FMs) and Post POCs with inspection requirements and code compliance issues.
  • Conduct equipment condition assessments and provide comprehensive reports.
  • Lead inspections working with facility staff and contractors to ensure compliance.
  • Schedule inspections submit travel documents and coordinate logistics.
  • Ensure maintenance contractors understand the Scope of Work and required tasks.
  • Maintain inspection statistics status reports and GMMS database records.
  • Assign GMMS work orders as directed.
  • Review plans specifications and technical reports.
  • Support OBO-EM in safety and technical training.
  • Present technical reports and solutions to OBO-EM leadership.
  • Assist in developing and delivering elevator safety training for Facility Managers and OBO staff.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • Experience in code compliance inspections of vertical transportation equipment.
  • Must be a Certified Qualified Elevator Inspector (ASME QEI-1) with ANSI-accredited credentials maintained throughout the contract.
  • Proven track record in vertical transportation inspection and testing in a major U.S. market.
  • Strong initiative judgment and organizational skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to handle global travel and diverse working conditions.
  • Expertise in materials methods and problem-solving for vertical transportation systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of elevator safety building and fire protection codes.
  • Ability to learn and apply foreign codes and standards.
  • Experience navigating complex code compliance issues and driving inspection processes in varied environments.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word Excel Outlook).
