Reporting to the Warden this position is responsible for the supervision of subordinate HVAC staff in the Maintenance Department at a medium custody male correctional facility. Job responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following: - Overseeing the operation maintenance and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration units and associated air handling chilled water distribution and control systems for a major correctional facility.
- Supervising and training assigned HVAC mechanics involved in the operation and maintenance of the physical plant and assuring that assigned staff are properly trained.
- Being responsible for maintenance of an effective preventive maintenance program and quality control on repair work performed on assigned systems or components.
- Supervising daily operation of the physical plant including boilers chillers generators and related switch gear.
- Receiving work orders setting priorities and making work assignments.
- Performing repairs and preventive maintenance tasks as needed and assigned.
This is afull-time position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits with established working hours ofMonday-Friday 8am-5pmand may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.Note to Current State Employees:
The salary grade for this position is NC12(Salary Range: $45926 - $80369). State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase MAY result.
About Warren Correctional Institution:Warren Correctional Institution is a medium custody facility located in Manson NC which houses approximately 725 male offenders. The facility provides offender labor to one Correction Enterprises operation located off site: The Janitorial Product Plant manufactures a variety of cleaning products soap and plastic bags that are sold to various agencies/companies.Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Documented experience in HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) Systems.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High School or General Educational Development (GED) certificate and up to three yearsof journey level experience in the installation maintenance or repair of air conditioning chillers air handling chilled water distribution and control systems including one year at the journey levelor an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications:REQUIRES current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations part 82 subpart F. Supplemental and Contact Information
