The Wall Street Journal is seeking a dynamic self-starting audio and video producer to drive a personal finance podcast that we are redeveloping. This isnt just about soundits about bringing complex money topics to life through compelling visually rich content.

Youll work with top-tier reporters and industry professionals to break down everything from saving and investing to taxes and financial decisions. We need someone who can not only pitch and produce world-class audio but also help us redefine what a video podcast can be.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in video journalism podcast production digital storytelling and development. Youre a creative force with excellent editorial judgment and a passion for finding new ways to connect with an audience. Youre also the type of person who will network across our newsroom to be on the cutting edge of what our reporters and editors are working on. Youll immerse yourself in the news trends and developments around money and personal finance that will make this show a must-listen and watch.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing collaborative team that produces impactful factual and news-driven podcasts across the WSJ newsroom. We have a dedicated core listenership and were looking to take our contentand our audienceto the next level.

What Youll Do:

  • Work closely with the shows host and Supervising Producer as well as coverage chiefs across the WSJ newsroom to initiate and develop original story ideas including special series interactive and immersive ways to more deeply connect with our audience and external events.

  • Play a key role in the production and post-production of the show: pitching stories booking and pre-interviewing guests writing scripts recording interviews editing sound and video and posting to platforms.

  • Conduct remote recordings and in-studio interviews and do field work.

  • Contribute to the promotion of the show through creating promos sizzle reels and social media assets including videos.

  • Interview WSJ reporters and sources coaching those without audio and video experience.

  • Manage multiple projects in various stages of development and production.

  • Ensure that all content is accurate fact-checked and meets the highest production value and that all WSJ journalistic and legal standards are followed.

  • Complete additional duties as assigned including supporting other WSJ podcast productions.

  • Fill in as a host and/or contribute to the podcast on mic.

What Youll Bring:

  • At least 3 years of experience in audio and video storytelling for a daily podcast or radio show.

  • A professional background in video journalism podcast production and digital storytelling.

  • Strong shooting and editing skills.

  • Deep understanding of and interest in the Journals core coverage areas.

  • Strong editorial judgment and broad knowledge of current events.

  • Strong editorial skills including experience in research fact-checking and sculpting longform interviews both before and after recordings.

  • Professional experience writing headlines captions and scripts for stories under tight time constraints.

  • Experience developing and launching new products.

  • Professional-level understanding of Adobe Audition Pro Tools or other DAWs.

  • Professional experience using Premiere is a strong plus.

This position is based in our New York City office and reports into the Supervising Producer Audio.
