About the role
Our Water and Wetlands and Coastal Science team is currently seeking to appoint 2x Scientist- Wetland Inundation Analyst to be part of our team dedicated to monitoring evaluating and reporting on the health of iconic wetlands in the Murray-Darling Basin. This role integrates the development of scripts for advanced computer-based data processing and modelling to predict and evaluate inundation extent and trends across these wetlands. This role also incorporates remote sensing and spatial analysis; data management data analysis and evaluation; field work to monitor wetland hydrology; and assisting with the preparation of technical reports and other information products to communicate outcomes to both expert and non-expert audiences.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have experience in the development of remote sensing and spatial analysis processes while also demonstrating strong experience developing scripts using Python for environmental data analysis and modelling. For this role you will be using remote sensing products and models to track floodplain wetland inundation. You will also be using spatial datasets to analyse and evaluate trends in wetland hydrology.
You will have planning organising and other relevant field-based skills which can be used to support fieldwork for wetland inundation monitoring. You will be involved in opportunities to conduct field work across several wetlands in remote locations within the NSW Murray-Darling Basin. You will communicate outcomes with both expert and non-expert audiences.
