We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director of Diverse Learners to lead the Division of Diverse Learners within the Office of Teaching and Learning. This critical leadership position will guide state-level policy and programs for special education English Learners and students with mild moderate and severe disabilities. The Executive Director will ensure compliance with federal mandates such as IDEA and ADA while advancing strategies to improve outcomes for more than 100000 students with disabilities and over 30000 English Learners statewide.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in meeting the needs of diverse learners a strong track record in program management and demonstrated success in leading large-scale systems change. - In-depth knowledge of Louisianas Special Education Playbook and its application in school systems.
- Proven leadership in managing special education and EL programs at the state district or large organizational level.
- Strong background in data analysis and strategic planning to improve outcomes for all students with disabilities and English Learners.
- Skilled in team management including supervising staff and evaluating performance.
- Effective collaborator and communicator with internal departments schools systems families advocates and national partners.
- Knowledgeable about Louisianas education landscape student data systems and accountability structures.
Minimum Qualifications
Ten years of experience in education teaching or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience plus seven years of experience in education teaching or administrative services; OR
A bachelors degree plus seven years of experience in education teaching or administrative services; OR
An advanced degree plus six years of experience in education teaching or administrative services.

Job Duties:
As the Education Division Director for Teaching and Learning Diverse Learners division you will:
- Oversee Special Education and EL Programsensure compliance with IDEA ADA and state laws; implement Louisianas Special Education Playbook; lead strategic planning and continuous improvement efforts.
- Supervise and Support Staffmanage a team of program managers and specialists; provide coaching assign work approve leave/travel and evaluate performance.
- Coordinate Across Departmentscollaborate with internal LDOE teams to integrate diverse learner supports into statewide initiatives.
- Engage Stakeholdersserve as a liaison to OSEP and key state and national groups; engage with LEAs families advocates and legislators to support diverse learner needs.
- Manage Data and Budgetsanalyze student and program data to guide decision-making; oversee IDEA budgets and discretionary grants; ensure effective use of state and federal funds.
- Develop Guidance and Provide Trainingcreate policies tools and resources for districts; lead professional development and technical assistance to support educators and school systems.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational Promotional or Job Appointment.The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment if selected.
Work Schedule: Work days are Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
