Job Summary

The Volunteer Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach and athletic program in fostering the growth development and well-being of student-athletes. This service-based role is designed to provide hands-on coaching experience in a collegiate athletic environment while supporting Florida Memorial Universitys mission and values.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with practices including teaching drills warm-ups and conditioning under the direction of the Head Coach.
  • Support home games and events with tasks such as equipment setup hydration and sideline support.
  • Promote a positive team culture and mentor student-athletes.
  • Assist with community outreach and program events as assigned by the Head Coach.
  • Complete necessary coaching-related paperwork as assigned (e.g. incident reports attendance tracking equipment logs).

To comply with labor and athletic association guidelines the Volunteer Assistant Coach may not:

  • Conduct recruiting or scouting of prospective student-athletes.
  • Independently plan practices develop game strategies or make in-game coaching decisions.
  • Supervise paid staff or manage student workers.
  • Flexible and coordinated with the Head Coach.
  • Generally ranges from 510 hours per month depending on team and event schedules.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors degree in a related field (e.g. education kinesiology sports management) or current enrollment in a college/university degree program preferred.
  • Knowledge of sport fundamentals and techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must complete and pay for a Level 2 Background Check (or equivalent standard per University policy).
  • Completion of required University compliance training (e.g. Title IX Clery Act and others as assigned).

Additional Requirements:

  • Must sign a Volunteer Agreement acknowledging the unpaid nature of the role and compliance responsibilities.
  • Adherence to all University NAIA and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Commitment to representing Florida Memorial University with professionalism and integrity

  • Candidates selected for hire will be required to successfully complete and provide documentation of a Level 2 background screening prior to employment.
