Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and 9 years of experience in planning project management or other field relevant to space and land use or a Masters degree and 6 years in the same fields/areas.
  • Candidate must have working or technical knowledge of the NEPA process as it applies to land management.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy L clearance which requires US Citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with siting of projects on Federal Land.
  • Knowledge or experience with BLM land records management.
  • Working experience of project management principals.
  • Strong to expert knowledge of GIS and other database management systems.

Job Information:

  • The target pay range for this position is $99627 - $153664 annually. The full pay range is $91812 - $220332. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education relevant experience and other credentials.
  • TDP-Testing Designated Position: You will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this classification the employee is frequently required to stand walk sit stoop kneel bend and work in an office and field/laboratory environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type handle materials manipulate tools and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with the public is required. Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Space and Land Use Manager to work on our Campus Development Office. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Research and Education Campus with every other Friday off.

You will be responsible for managing a team of operationally focused professionals in the areas of strategic space planning personnel relocation office space design land use planning geographic information systems (GIS) and facility information systems management. You will develop and oversee functional strategies governance and direction of the space and land use planning team that includes lab-wide strategic planning for new research opportunities and capabilities specific siting requirements and common facilities and utility needs. You will oversee facilities renovation and expansion align with institutional strategic space goals and standards manage organizational space allocations and ensure effective space utilization. This position will require extensive technical knowledge in strategic space and land use planning land records geographic information systems and space management systems. You will provide relationship management with DOE Land Use Officers and act as a liaison with Chief Operating Officers and Senior Leadership regarding strategic space and land use planning efforts. You will report directly to the Campus Development Office Sr. Manager.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage activities of the Space and Land Use Planning team through non-exempt and exempt specialists. Provide directions to team members according to established policies and management guidance.
  • Manage train and motivate staff to meet INL space and land use objectives. Manage employees that perform similar or related tasks. May supervise more than one shift or work unit and subordinate managers.
  • Responsible for developing and administering budgets schedules and performance standards for the Space and Land Use team and the Campus Development Office (CDO). Take actions to monitor and manage costs related to a section.
  • Receive assignments based on incremental objectives and defined processes. Monitor integrate and coordinate daily weekly or monthly activities.
  • Monitor activities to develop operational enhancements and is responsible for maintaining internal control schedule and quality adherence.
  • Develop and manage routine operational plans.
  • Participate in the development of overall objectives and long-term goals of the business unit.
  • Ensure quality record keeping and compliance.
  • Recommend changes to sub-unit unit or discipline policies. Identify troubleshoot or resolve escalated problems working on issues of moderate to large scope/complexity.
  • Interact with subordinate supervisors and functional peer groups. Interaction requires interpreting and explaining information to audiences familiar with the subject.
  • Gain cooperation of others conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
